Conservative Leaders to Gather for Values Voters Summit

More than 40 conservative and Christian leaders will gather in Washington, D.C., this weekend for the fourth annual Values Voters Summit.

The event, which begins Friday and can be viewed live online, will include a straw poll of 10 possible 2012 presidential candidates, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Republican Rep. Mike Pence, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

The poll results will be announced Saturday afternoon.

Hosted by Family Research Council, the summit will feature conservatives leaders such as Perry, Romney and Huckabee, and Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, as well as former Miss California Carrie Prejean, actor Stephen Baldwin and Bishop Harry Jackson.

On Friday, a Congressional town hall panel will discuss the economic and moral implications of health care reform. And on Saturday evening, Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly will receive the James C. Dobson Vision and Leadership Award.


The summit ends Sunday and is co-sponsored by the American Family Association, Focus on the Family Action, American Values and the Heritage Foundation.
