The People of Haiti Desperately Need Our Help After Devastating 7.2 Earthquake

As you probably already know, a tremendous earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale struck the island nation of Haiti over the weekend. Tragically, at least 1,300 people were killed, and more than 3,000 people are still missing.

Haiti is an impoverished nation with many needs, and this earthquake has created another huge one. I feel like the readers of Charisma magazine and those who listen to my Strang Report podcast must join together to respond to this need.

Over the years, Charisma Media has worked with our nonprofit partner Christian Life Missions to respond to different needs and catastrophes like this one, and we want people to see the heart of God once again through this tragedy. Over the years, we have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars. We did it for 9/11. We did it a couple of years later with the terrible tsunami in Asia. We’ve helped with relief following tornadoes, flooding and Hurricane Katrina.

We can’t respond to every single natural disaster, but when we think we can make a difference and when there is a need as there is now, Charisma and Christian Life Missions will help.

We have reported on just how serious this is, and we will continue to do reports in the coming days and weeks to keep you updated on the Haitian situation. It changes by the hour of how they are discovering more people who have died, the damage that has been done and how the people of Haiti have been devastated by this earthquake.

Our Hope for Haiti Children’s Center is led by Danita Estrella, and she is doing a magnificent job. We also want to work with Convoy of Hope, a huge humanitarian agency, of which we have done several articles and podcasts. They do things on a massive scale, and we have supported them in different ways.

And so, what we want to do on our Christian Life Missions website is to allow you to donate to either Convoy of Hope or Hope for Haiti. If you don’t designate exactly where the money will go, and some won’t, we will split what comes in 50/50 with both of those organizations.

To get the ball rolling, Christian Life Missions is going to send some front money to them that will be, of course, reimbursed by the early donations that come in. But we want you to know that every penny you donate through Christian Life Missions goes to the cause for which you designate it.

The Lord has given Charisma and me a platform, and we are trying to use it, as we’ve done so many times over the years, for the glory of God and His kingdom. You can trust us. We have a reputation for integrity—never any scandal or any controversy of any kind. The funds are kept totally at arm’s length as nothing comes to me or my company.

I’m usually one of the larger donors to Christian Life Missions. I believe in it that much. But together, we can do so much more than we can individually.

I’m giving to this effort personally, and many of the board members of Christian Life Missions are giving as well. We are sending an emergency donation because the people of Haiti’s needs are immediate. They can’t wait until the donations trickle in as they tend to do.

I hope everybody who listens to this podcast will give something, no matter who you are. Even people with very modest incomes can give something to help, whether it be $10 or $25. Anything is helpful.

And, of course, when you give on the Christian Life Missions website, we will send you a receipt for tax purposes. Every bit you give will go toward this disaster.

This is a tremendous opportunity for you to make an impact for the kingdom of God and to show the people of Haiti how much God cares about them and how much we care about them. So again, please give generously so we can contribute to meeting this critical need.
