When Donald Trump started running for president, several people came out with prophetic words about his victory. But one of the first people to ever say that God raised up Trump for His purposes was Frank Amedia.
On the eve of the super primary in March 2016, Amedia received a word from the Lord that Trump would be the next president of the United States. I asked Amedia to share about this word and how God used it in Trump’s life on my “Strang Report” podcast.
“That prophetic word was for [Trump],” Amedia says. “… The word was this: ‘If you humble yourself, sir, the Lord says that you will be the next president of the United States. Humble yourself before God, not before man, and walk with a heart unto Him.'”
Trump made an unexpected visit that night to Youngstown, Ohio, where Amedia was, but unfortunately, the prophetic pastor didn’t get a chance to share with Trump the word God gave him. Amedia was disappointed, of course, but the following Sunday, he found out Trump would be visiting Amedia’s home city. In fact, Trump was planning to visit the very base where Amedia’s father was a commander and he wanted Amedia to help present him.
Amedia tells me he was honored to be there. He made sure to type out the prophetic word and put it in an envelope. After he gave the envelope to Trump, Amedia and his team began to pray. That’s when something unexpected happened.
“At 10 o’clock that night … my intercessors sensed the smell of baby powder all over the room,” he says. “And the Lord spoke to me and He said, ‘The baby’s born.’ And I knew then that it meant something to him and that it blessed him and that the word had gotten through to him. So God used that prophetic word to kick it off.”
Amedia says God started moving quickly after he gave that word to Trump. On March 22, 2016, Trump was supposed to speak in front of AIPAC (The American Israel Public Affairs Committee), but he was struggling to understand the Christian perspective of Israel. Trump’s team turned to Amedia for advice.
“I gave him the four points of Israel—that No. 1, we should follow through with the congressional mandate and establish the embassy in Jerusalem and that he should commit to do so; No. 2, that he should recognize Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel; No. 3, that he should disavow any other entity, any other people who call for the destruction of Israel, that they must recant of that and change their mandates in order for us to be involved in any peace; and No. 4, that he would stand strongly in military with them,” he says.
After the event, Susan Michael of the ICEJ (International Christian Embassy Jerusalem) called Amedia and told him Trump spoke of his suggested points almost word for word.
The incredible thing is that, in many ways, Trump has kept his promises regarding Israel. He moved the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, declared that the U.S. officially recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, and as of this week, declared that the U.S. no longer recognizes Israeli settlements in the West Bank as illegal, despite what the U.N. says.
But there’s still more work to be done.
“We need to understand that his assignment with Israel is not completed,” Amedia says. “… We need to really pray for our president and our country to complete his assignment as it pertains to Jerusalem and Israel. Genesis says those who bless [Israel] will be blessed and those who curse her will be cursed. Jerusalem is the apple of God’s eyes. It cannot be partitioned, not by land and not by politics.”
I encourage you to pray for Trump every day that he would continue to fulfill God’s purpose for him regarding the United States and Israel.
