Small Actions—Big Changes

The “butterfly effect” teaches us that small causes can have large effects. This is the essence of leverage.

One small touch to a project can change the outcome for any organization. Talent (giftings), touch and timing are all evident in the kingdom of God.

The term “butterfly effect” was coined by meteorologist Edward Lorenz, who discovered in the 1960s that the flap of the wings of a tiny butterfly could result in anything from sunny skies to violent storms—with no way to predict in advance what the outcome might be.

Lorenz was a brilliant MIT meteorologist, but his research was immediately mocked. The effect became a scientific law by the 1990s because the research proved valid in every testing.

At the right time and place, one flap of the wings of a butterfly may spawn a tornado or hurricane.

It may be incredible science, but the effect is certainly familiar to children of God.

Little things matter. One sin cracked paradise. One Word changed eternity.

One prayer can change everything.
