Formerly Suicidal Evangelist Reaches Depressed People Using Media

Perhaps one of the greatest challenges the church has is how to reach the lost and hurting who may never step through the doors of a church.  As a full-time evangelist, I understand fully the importance of reaching people where they are. I’ve ministered on the streets of New Orleans, under shade trees in Africa …

    Evangelism: The Neglected Gift

“Mass evangelism doesn’t work in today’s culture.” I have heard or read this statement countless times. It is the exact statement people were making decades ago as the then-unknown evangelist by the name of Billy Graham was preaching on the sawdust trail in small tents across the U.S. Doubters were silenced when multitudes met Christ …

Your Story Is His Story, So Share It

Easter is the most important holiday for Christians. It is a time when we celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord. And it is one of the most well-attended Sundays at churches around the nation. Because of the nature of what Easter is and the openness to so many to think about the cross …

5 Misconceptions About Prayer That Need to Be Corrected

There are many misconceptions about prayer that often hinder individuals from fully benefiting from this intimate act in which God desires us to take part. Too often, we view prayer as a reverent, eloquent monologue during which we use “thee’s” and “thou’s” to ask God to help us. We have forgotten the true essence and …

  • The Universal Language of Love

    The Universal Language of Love

It is estimated that more than $18 billion was spent on Valentine’s Day cards, roses, candy and gifts in 2013. This year the highly commercialized Valentine’s season is in full swing. Seductive roses and heart-shaped boxes line shopping aisles while jewelry commercials and promises of romance and love blanket television sets. Love is the universal language understood by all. …

Giving Thanks When Thanksgiving Is Over

There wasn’t a glistening turkey, fresh homemade rolls, dressing or even a pumpkin pie. The kitchen had no burning candle emitting the intoxicating fragrance of cinnamon spice or pomegranate. There wasn’t one single fall decoration adorning the house. No bulging pumpkins on both sides of the front door, pictures of pilgrims made by the children …

    6 Tips to Start Witnessing

The biggest roadblock to evangelism is beginning a conversation. Here’s how to get started.

I know many Christians who want to share their faith, but they struggle with finding a way to begin. There is no specific formula. God wants us to be spontaneous as we trust Him to give us the words.

These suggestions will help you start the conversation:

    1. Discuss spirituality. You might ask, “Do you attend church anywhere?” Regardless of the answer, try to steer away from getting caught up in a discussion about religion or “your” church. Many people have had negative church experiences. But this can still be a great door opener. Keep the focus on Christ because religion doesn’t change lives, Jesus does.

You Have A Story to Tell

Many Christians don’t share their faith because they aren’t Bible experts. But all you really need to do is tell your testimony. testimonyMany Christians don’t share their faith because they aren’t Bible experts. But all you really need to do is tell your testimony.

It was one of those days when you feel paralyzed by responsibilities. My nerves were raw and my patience had slipped into a coma. My wife was unable to meet the cable-TV repairman, so I was left with the “blessing” of being in charge of the meet-and-greet.

Running 10 minutes late for the appointment, I called from my cellphone to let him know I was on my way. Seconds after he accepted my lame excuses and cordially said he would be waiting, God brought a thought to my mind. Does this man have a relationship with Christ?
