Distress of Nations

E-mail Print PDF

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring. —Luke 21:25

War has always been a part of man's history, but never before have there been so many continuing conflicts in the world. No clear solutions can be found, and the wars rage on with no sign of resolution. Decades after the Korean War, North and South Korea are still simmering. Rumors concerning nuclear bomb development abound in the north. Iraq and Libya continue to provoke hostility among nations. Wars seethe across the continent of Africa. Meanwhile, no earthly solution can be applied to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that constantly undermines the security of Israel.

The distress of nations is being played out daily in the world. It would be easy to read the newspaper and become fearful, but do not fall into that trap. Jesus said, "When these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh" (Luke 21:28). Do not despair! Look toward heaven! Jesus is coming soon!

Lord, help me understand the signs of the times.
Prepare me for Your return. Help me to
live for You will all my being
this day. Amen.
